Yesterday I had the pleasure of sharing my home, and a cup of tea with Jane Nelsen, Ed.D, author of the Positive Discipline (PD) series of books, podcasts, websites, etc. etc. As always she made me feel like another one of her many children - and I found myself blathering away like an excited school kid. If you've been lucky enough to attend a workshop or class taught by Jane then you already know how she can make the most impossible parent/kid situation feel doable - and in fact - wonderful. She completely improved my relationship with my own children years ago. She is a wealth of information. Not least because she has seven grown kids of her own - and an uncountable number of grandkids.
Fortunately I didn't steal all of the words from our visit. Jane told me about
some cool new tool cards she's created to help parents do on the spot PD, and her son's blog (it's hilarious) about a single dad who is using the cards to help deal with his full time job of dad to his two kids (find out about the cards here)The post she shared with me began "Did you hear that???? That was the sound of me having a panic attack." He's writing about trying to follow some new rules about limiting screen time. Read more here.

Marianne, It was such fun connecting with you again. You are one of my all time favorite workshop participants. Have you listened to the podcast of our conversation of all the good things you got from that workshop? http://positivediscipline.com/podcast/workshop-participant-podcast.html
ReplyDeleteParents in my audiences love hearing the story about you, Kenny, and pee on the toilet seat. :-)
